Question by BlackDahlia: When you qualify for a home loan, can you take out credit after without it counting against you?
Or do they re-check before everything finalizes?
I’m contemplating buying a home with my husband and we may need cash on hand for closing costs, appraisals, etc, and we were wondering if we can get qualified for the home, start to get it, and then if we need to put stuff on the credit card if we can? Or would it be better to just get a cash advance from my line FIRST, thus lowering the original amount of money we qualify for with the loan. Thanks.

They will recheck prior to closing and also require you to sign a statement that nothing has changed in your financial situation since the initial application.
