Issued November 1973 on Elektra 45319. Members of Painter were Dorn Beattie (vocals), Barry Allen (guitar), Dan Lowe (guitar), Royden “Wayne” Morice (bass), and Bob “Herb” Ego (drums). The group has its origins in 49th Parallel. They signed with Elektra in 1973 after a failed tenure on Randy Bachman’s Molten Records label. Their self-titled album contained this single, which was their only Top 20 entry. Heavy, crunching guitars, impeccable ensemble vocals and tight rhythm section, with a noodling lead guitar line reminiscent of Randy Bachman’s style and sound (he does not play on the track).
