This bank is probably great for the kid who has an occasional coin to save, but the counting mechanism is a little too faulty for someone who really wants to "count their pennies". Oftentimes when my son puts in a nickel it registers a quarter. That might be fine if you notice at the time AND have the money to add to make up the difference, but if not, then your counter won't be accurate for the contents. Overall we aren't satisfied with this product.
The style also doesn't match what was in the picture on Amazon, but that has nothing to do with the bank itself. Just beware that what you receive may not be what you ordered.

My kid loves dropping his coins into the bank. Mommy loves that it adds the coins so she knows when its worthwhile to haul to the bank. Although, I swear sometimes depending on how you drop in the coin, it records the wrong amount. Works 99% of the time with correct coin recognition – its just when the 3 year old gets a little rammy with dropping the coins – definitely say more user error than machine error.

I'm sure that if the bank you receive works, the kids would love it. Unfortunately, I bought two for my twins and neither worked from the day we received them. With some things (as you parents know), once a child has the toy, the concept of sending something back, just because it lost its educational value, is incomprehensible to a 4-year old.

The bank was much smaller than I had expected. I am sure the gift will be enjoyed; what kid doesn't like money? I just thought it would be bigger.

Okay, lets be honest – I'm 22, and I am awful at saving money.
That's okay though, because this money jar helps a little. The concept is simple – it counts the change you put into it. Previously, I have kept money jars but taken the money out. However, with this jar – I know that if I take money out the count will be off.
The count isn't perfectly accurate, but it's very close. I think It's mistaken a dime for a penny once or twice. It's less than 1% off when full I'd say. Some will complain you can't undo mistakes, but that's precisely the point. If I could remove from the value I'd be tempted to spend.
There is something about the jar keeping an accurate count of my money that prevents me from wanting to take out. It is truly helping me spend.
Since buying this, I have purchased it for 3 friends, and my brother also has one.
